Van Gogh: such an interesting man. He only painted for something like 10 years of his life; dying young at 37 and only selling one painting (of the more than 900 he created) before his death. Just one. Now, I tell my art students about him. I recreate his paintings, and I can say his name in conversation without seeing a huge question mark on the face in front of me.
I have love for the Van Gogh story-- because he painted SO much with so little recognition. He painted to paint.
